Edinburgh locals caught a glimpse of royals as a police escort was spotted driving through the city on Sunday.

A video clip taken from Queensferry Road on September 14, show several police cars and motorbikes as two Range Rover vehicles were being led through by an escort.

The royal in question was Princess Anne as she attended the Edinburgh Riding of the Marches and joined over 200 horses and riders up the Royal Mile.

The event, known as "Riding the Marches" or "Common Riding", aims to re-enact a tradition that is believed to date back to at least the 16th century when mounted representatives of Scotland's cities and towns conducted annual inspections of their borders, reports the Daily Express.
