Barrington Police said a man identifying himself as an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent called the station on Monday, Sept. 8, to alert the department about an investigatory stop the agency made in town.
Police said ICE officials stopped a van on Lincoln Avenue early Monday morning, Sept. 8, and took a male party into custody. Police said the ICE agent wanted to alert police to the man’s van, which had been left on the side of Lincoln Avenue. Police said ICE took custody of a Portuguese man who had been living in Fall River, Mass.
Barrington Police contacted Homeland Security Investigations in an effort to get some additional information about the person who was taken into custody — police later contacted the man’s family and told them they could pick up the van from the police
