The Mets are moving starter Sean Manaea to the bullpen, according to Will Sammon and Tim Britton of The Athletic .

The 33-year-old’s next appearance is scheduled to be in a relief role on Tuesday, with Clay Holmes starting against the Padres.

“I think it depends on what lineup we get and where we are in the game,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said after Sunday’s 5-2 win over the Texas Rangers. “We have got to be able to make adjustments and be flexible.”

David Peterson and Jonah Tong are set to follow Holmes in this week’s series against San Diego.

Manaea began the year on the injured list with a right oblique strain and made his season debut on July 13. Since then, he’s been a weak spot in the rotation. Over 11 appearances (10 starts) this year, Manaea is posting a 5.76 ERA with 64
