A man shot by a police officer in Passaic County after he walked down the stairs of his home carrying two swords plans to sue the Wayne Police Department, his attorney said Monday.

Lt. Doug Itjen fired seven shots , striking 34-year-old Connor Darpino five times after Darpino descended a staircase holding two swords, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
