President Donald Trump slammed Gov. Kathy Hochul for backing Zohran Mamdani for mayor and said that the nod could cost New York state big-time.

Per the New York Post , the president chimed in after it was revealed that Hochul, who had avoided taking sides in the race for City Hall, is endorsing democratic socialist Mamdani, an assemblyman from Queens.

“Governor Kathy Hochul of New York has Endorsed the [sic] “Liddle’ Communist,” Zohran Mamdani, running for Mayor of New York,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social site. “This is a rather shocking development, and a very bad one for New York City.”

Trump has referred to Mamdani as “my little Communist” and said that as mayor Mamdani would need funding from the federal government.
