A homeless North Dakota woman accused of hitting her sleeping boyfriend in the head with a hatchet managed a a wide grin for her mugshot.

Lena Deoliveira, 23, allegedly attacked her boyfriend, Jonathan Granados, with a hatchet on Sept. 5, while the pair were staying in a garage in Fargo, according to court documents obtained by InForum .

Police responded to the scene and found a trail of blood coming from a detached garage before discovering Granados with significant injuries.

Another man who was also staying in the garage allegedly identified Deoliveira as Granados’ attacker.

He noted she was homeless and could often be found bunking in the garage and other homes in the neighbourhood, the outlet reported.
