Eight people were injured after a multi-car crash involving a logging truck on a highway in Massachusetts on Monday morning. One person was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the crash happened just before 10 a.m., heading west on Route 2 in Phillipston.

A car and the logging truck caught on fire. One person was removed from a burning vehicle by a bystander before firefighters arrived.

The fire was quickly knocked down, according to the Phillipston Fire Department.

6 people taken to hospitals

One person was airlifted to the hospital with traumatic injuries. Five others were transported to local hospitals. Two other people involved in the crash refused to be taken to the hospital. Their identities have not been released.
