On a predominantly Dorper sheep farm at Naradhan, Ms Wilkes-Bowes, said the season had been below average.

"We've had an inch or so in the last week which was great and we've had little bits and pieces of rain but it's not brilliant," she said.

Ms Wilkes-Bowes said they had put in a stock containment area last year as part of a project with Local Land Services and Soils For Life.
