Gasoline prices in Illinois have dropped slightly as of Sept. 15.

The average price per gallon is now $3.43, according to a community announcement. This is based on a survey of 4,378 stations across the state.

Compared to a month ago in August, prices are up by 1.1 cents per gallon. They are also 2.4 cents higher than a year ago. Nationally, the average price of diesel has decreased by 2.6 cents and now stands at $3.658 per gallon.

The cheapest gas station in Illinois was priced at $2.82 per gallon Sept. 14, while the most expensive was $4.79 per gallon, a difference of $1.97 per gallon.
