Sir Keir Starmer says he is “angry” with Peter Mandelson for not revealing the full extent of his past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein before he was appointed the UK ambassador to the US.
In an exclusive interview with Channel 4 News, the prime minister said: “I don’t particularly think anger helps here, but I feel let down. I feel that the process was gone through and now information has come to light which had I known it at the time, I wouldn’t have appointed him.”
Lord Mandelson was sacked from his role as UK ambassador to the US after leaked emails showed him offering support for Epstein even after a sex offence conviction.
