KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — Blount County will be using the Knox County Regional Forensic Center as its medical examiner.
Knox County commissioners discussed forging an agreement with Blount County during the regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 22, and approved the center to take over medical examiner responsibilities for Blount County.
Workers at the Knox County center will now conduct death investigations and perform autopsies for Blount County. In exchange, Blount County would pay Knox County more than $700,000 a year for the service. Dr. Darinka Mileusnic would serve Blount County alongside Knox and Anderson counties as the medical examiner.
The center already serves Knox and Anderson counties. The agreement with Blount County will have a five year term.
