Florida’s Chief Financial Officer is stepping up calls for more control on local spending while accusing Orange County of overtaxing those who live there by nearly $200 million.

Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia said “spending doesn’t make sense” at a news conference in Orange County. He said “spending is out of control” by the local government, which is home to Orlando, and added that he’ll demand taxpayers get some of their money back.

It’s part of the Department of Government Efficiency ( DOGE ) philosophy emanating out of Washington, D.C., under President Donald Trump’s administration. Ingoglia has been stepping up DOGE reviews of many municipalities in Florida in recent weeks and months, and he’s been embroiled in a bitter tug-of-war with Orange County.
