Prime Minister Mark Carney and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre faced off in the House of Commons today for the first time since the days leading up to the election, as MPs returned after a summer break.
Poilievre was unable to take a seat in the Commons after losing his Ottawa-area riding in the election but has since won a by-election in the Alberta riding of Battle River-Crowfoot.
Kicking off Question Period, he thanked Carney for promptly calling the by-election, then genially asked the Prime Minister whether or not he supported key tenets of Conservative policy, such as Canada being a place where hard work is rewarded and food and homes are available.
