While Oakland County first responders made some missteps at the November 2021 Oxford High School shooting − including the failure to immediately establish a command center at the scene − a new report has found they would not have been able to prevent the deaths of four students by tending to them sooner.
The 275-page report from independent investigative firm Guidepost Solutions, released Sept. 15, focuses on how effective first responders were during and following the active shooter situation.
The report finds "no evidence of neglect or dereliction of duty by individual responders." But the report, which Oakland County commissioned, found that several breakdowns in protocol and communication may have led to "disjointed" coordination between the public safety officials descending on camp
