CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri received an $11,000 grant for its “Sit Down & Shut Up” partnership with Scout Hall.
The grant is from Missouri Humanities.
According to the Arts Council, “Sit Down & Shut Up” is a dinner show dedicated to the writers of songs.
Local musician Evan Webb came up with the project.
He described it as a Field of Dreams approach to giving songwriters a space to be heard.
“Sit Down and Shut Up is not breaking the mold, only baking up a sometimes hard-to-find favorite,” he said in a news release. “That is how this all started.”
He said “Sit Down & Shut Up” is where we can learn from those who create as they tell a version of their story.
The next show will be on Saturday, September 20 at Scout Hall.
