SALEM Ore. (KPTV) - Oregon Senate Republicans elected Senator Bruce Starr as their new caucus leader on Monday, his office announced.
Starr replaces Senator Daniel Bonham as the minority leader of the Oregon Senate.
Bonham officially announced his resignation from the Oregon Senate on Monday, effective Oct. 5, 2025.
“Daniel Bonham’s service as Caucus Leader has been exceptional,” Starr said in a release. “He has always punched above his weight class, and he leaves huge shoes to fill. Senator Bonham inspires us to keep looking ahead, and I will always treasure his friendship.”
Bonham is barred for reelection in 2026, for taking part in a 2023 walkout - the longest in the state’s history.
