The judge ordered Vasquez to be held without bond, citing the totality of circumstances and evidence, including the welfare of her three minor children.

Vasquez is facing one count of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and one count of negligent homicide, in relation to her son Bryan Vasquez's death.

According to her public defender, Madison Orway, Vasquez is being held in Plaquemines Parish Jail over an hour away from New Orleans.

The state presented evidence, stating that Vasquez's son Bryan, who was born healthy, became special needs after being severely beaten by Vasquez at three months old.
