CINCINNATI, Oh. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will be out of commission for the foreseeable future.
Burrow left Sunday’s game in the second quarter with a turf toe injury to his left foot. ESPN reported Monday that he will need surgery and is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of three months.
“I feel terrible for him because he’s put in all the work,” head coach Zac Taylor said. “For him to have to go through this is the worst part of it.”
Backup quarterback Jake Browning will now take over as the starter. Against Jacksonville, Browning went 21 of 32 for 241 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.
“We have a ton of confidence in Jake,” Taylor said. “He proved that yesterday against what everyone is going to see is a really good football team.
