WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump has announced he may call a national emergency in Washington, D.C. if local police do not cooperate with immigration enforcement.
The president’s previous national emergency and federal takeover, declared in August, expired last week.
D.C. Mayor had previously expressed concern over the administration’s immigration enforcement operations. She noted that residents were “living in fear” during the initial emergency, said the mayor.
The situation remains tense as residents and officials await further developments.
