Eddie Giacomin, a former star goaltender who spent most of his Hall of Fame career with the New York Rangers, has died.
The Ontario native, who played without a mask for a large portion of his career, was 86.
Giacomin began his hockey career in the Eastern Hockey League and following stints with the Washington Presidents and Clinton Comets, he joined the Providence Reds in the early 1960s.
The Rangers traded three players for him in 1965 and after starting slowly with the Blueshirts, he made a remarkable improvement and his career really started to take off.
