A West Baton Rouge judge agreed to delay once again the trial of a man accused of causing a deadly police car chase on New Year’s Eve 2022 that killed Brusly teens Caroline Gill and Maggie Dunn.
Recent court documents show the trial of Tyquel Zanders, who is charged with two counts of manslaughter and one count of aggravated flight from an officer, will be continued until November as the question of his mental competence remains unsettled.
“I don’t know if he’s malingering,” 18th Judicial District Attorney Tony Clayton said. “What he’s doing, I don’t have a clue, I just have to wait to see what the doctors say.”
