A Rhode Island man was arrested Sunday in connection with sending sexual messages to a Massachusetts 15-year-old, according to police.

Providence resident Efrain Ixcuna, 28, has been charged with enticement of a child under 16, reckless sexual endangerment of a child and attempting to commit a crime, Middleborough police wrote in a press release .

On Friday, Sept. 5, a parent reported to Middleborough police that their 15-year-old had been receiving inappropriate and sexual messages from an unknown man, police said. An investigation revealed that the man — who was later identified as Ixcuna — initially contacted the teen through Snapchat, falsely claiming he was 16 years old, then continued communicating with the 15-year-old through texts.
