BRANDON, VT. (WCAX) - Seniors looking to work in Vermont have been left in the lurch after a federal funding freeze led to furloughs.
The organization Associates for Training and Development, also known as A4TD , helps connect and train Vermont seniors for work in nonprofit or state jobs through the Senior Community Service Employment Program .
Their grant funding was supposed to be received by July 1, but nothing came.
One of those seniors is Dennis Brownfield, a disabled veteran in Brandon. His job was to help A4TD with their training program, teaching elders how to use technology.
“It helps seniors be more competitive in the job force with the younger workers, and it’s always good to have extra income, you know, it’s kinda hard being a vet on disability,” Brownfield said.
