LA JUNTA, Colo. (KKTV) - Monday afternoon, firefighters knocked down a vehicle fire in La Junta.
The La Junta Fire Department said firefighters responded to a vehicle on fire in the area of Road 28 and Homestead Loop around 12:22 p.m. to find a vehicle with heavy fire coming from both the engine and occupant compartments.
All occupants were able to safely exit the vehicle, crews said.
According to the fire department, crews began an aggressive fire attack to knock down the fire and keep it from spreading to the surrounding area.
Firefighters said they then conducted an overhaul to ensure the fire had been completely extinguished.
Following an investigation, firefighters said the cause of the fire was a possible mechanical malfunction that began in the engine compartment.
