ATLANTA – Employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have returned to their Atlanta offices a little more than a month after a gunman opened fire in the building, killing a police officer.
The attack in August left visible damage, and repairs are still ongoing.
The union president, representing local CDC workers, expressed concerns about the timing of the return.
"Today's return to office mandate is too soon for some employees," said the union president. "Some employees are still shaken from that attack."
This return comes as the community continues to heal from the tragic event.
