KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Knoxville city leaders continue to crack down on crime and connect the community, and there’s now money for residents to use in that effort.

The city has a new grant called the “On My Block Community Investment.”

Star Starks is the manager of partnerships and Programs in the City’s Office of Community Safety & Empowerment. She said she wants to give a voice to everyone in Knoxville.

“It is an opportunity for residents to say, on my block, we have peace; on my block, kids graduate; on my block, people live to see another day,” she said. “On My Block is the ability to take ownership of what’s on your block.”

Starks added that she created the grant with the goal to lower crime across Knoxville.
