WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Drivers in West Hartford can expect major traffic changes downtown this month as a busy stretch of LaSalle Road is transitioning to a one-way route for the second phase of a town infrastructure project.
Construction crews and machinery have replaced the usual crowd of bistros and bars along LaSalle Road since March, with the town pushing forward on upgrades to roads, sidewalks and green spaces.
“More of an inconvenience and annoying I hope it’s really worth it,” said local Alison Scherer.
The $3.5 million West Hartford Center Infrastructure Project entered its next stage on Monday, which includes repaving roads, upgrading traffic signals, widening sidewalks and adding greenery along LaSalle Road.
“I’m sure it will be lovely once constructed, but in the inter
