MADISON (WKOW) -- Metro Transit and the union representing its employees, the Teamsters, have reached an agreement on a new contract the city is calling "balanced."
Late Friday evening , the two parties announced the agreement.
Teamsters Local 120 members will receive a 3% pay raise each year to help cover inflation and the cost of living in Wisconsin. The contract also includes faster accrual of vacation hours and additional resources for driver safety.
Eric Knepp, Metro Transit's interim general manager, said negotiations lasted more than a year before both sides reached a deal.
"They [Teamsters] and we, I think all took a good faith effort and understanding the city's financial position, what the city could do, and what we were able and willing and able to do," Knepp said.
