UNION COUNTY, Tennessee — A Union County Commissioner called for the resignation of Sheriff Billy Breeding after two men being held at the jail died within days of each other.
Commissioner Sidney Jessee wrote a letter to Sheriff Breeding saying the relationship between Commission and the Sheriff has become "nonexistent."
In the letter, Jessee said the sheriff used to provide jail reports, inmate numbers and other details to commissioners regarding the jail. That has all stopped, Jessee said in the letter.
The letter references the two recent deaths of men who were being held at the jail. Jessee also said he thought much of what's occurred has been preventable.
