ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Abilene business Dandy Auto Detail has commissioned two murals on its exterior walls, a message the owners say is meant to counter senseless violence.
Remembrance comes in many forms, and one local artist armed with a spray can and paint-stained clothes is putting her skills to work while painting a mural for the late Iryna Zarutska. Zarutska was a Ukrainian refugee who was in the United States. She fled the conflict in her home country when she was suddenly and violently attacked and killed while traveling on a bus near Charlotte, North Carolina. Now, local contract muralist Alice Steele is using the exterior walls of an Abilene business to honor her memory and shared why she would make such a tribute for a stranger.
