HOUSTON – Police say a child was hit by a car in the Alief area of Houston Monday.

Houston Police say it happened around 6 p.m. at 10555 Wilcrest Drive.

The vehicle which hit the child fled the scene afterwards.

At the scene, a relative told KPRC 2 the boy, who is 13-years-old, was riding a METRO bus home from school to another relative’s home.

The relative said the boy was crossing the street after getting off the bus when he was hit by the car. The vehicle took off afterwards and right now, we do not have any clear details about the vehicle.

The family member said the boy couldn’t walk after being hit and possibly suffered a broken leg. He was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital by ambulance.

KPRC 2 has reached out to METRO PD for more information.
