LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a former CIA analyst, says Russian President Vladimir Putin is mocking former president Donald Trump while launching a major assault on Ukraine's capital.

Slotkin told CNN's "The Amanpour Hour" that Putin is "testing the limits like a toddler," referencing recent incursions into NATO airspace and a high-profile meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Trump met with Putin last month at a U.S. air base in Alaska.
