COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a Richland Two School District employee who allegedly brought a firearm onto school grounds.

Crystal Gamble was arrested Monday morning and charged with carrying a weapon onto school property after school resource officers were alerted by metal detectors to the firearm that was allegedly in Gamble’s bag.

According to law enforcement, SROs secured the firearm and detained Gamble. The officers then confirmed that Gamble legally owns the gun and reportedly forgot that the firearm was in her bag.

Records show that she was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

WIS has reached out to Richland Two for a statement, but has not heard back as of 8:15 p.m.
