A Bay Area chef with a previous arrest on suspicion of bank robbery is back in custody after allegedly hitting three San Francisco banks last week.

Valentino Luchin, 62, faces multiple charges of robbery and attempted robbery after a one-day spree, San Francisco police said. The news was first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle; the Chronicle and SFGATE are both owned by Hearst but have separate newsrooms.

On Wednesday, San Francisco police received an alert for a robbery at a bank on the 1100 block of Grant Avenue. By the time they arrived, the suspect had fled, but an employee provided a description of a man she said had passed her a note “demanding money,” police said in a press release . The employee gave him a bag of cash, she said.
