Bike lane work meant to be completed by spring
One of the most exhaustive projects that runs along the edges of Chandler’s downtown still has a significant way to go.
The Frye Road Protected Bike Lane Project was greenlighted when the Chandler City Council unanimously approved its Jan. 23 consent agenda. Work began in the early summer, shutting down all or at least one direction of traffic and restricting turns and access along the road from just east of Alma School Road to the cul-de-sac at the Chandler Paseo Trail and canal.
For much of the summer, Frye Road traffic was restricted to eastbound travel only, with the westbound lane torn apart from east of Hamilton Street to east of Arizona Avenue. That restriction was scheduled to be removed Sept. 12 after paving was completed.
