The latest high school star performances from the Wiregrass featured a game-winning effort in a historical win, several standouts in the co-highest scoring game of the year plus some highlights on special teams.
As usual, there were also plenty of stars in rushing, passing, receiving and defensive efforts during Friday’s action.
Game-winner
Kinston’s Jon Simmons provided the game-winning heroics. The quarterback drove the Bulldogs 80 yards in the last two minutes, finishing the series with an 8-yard touchdown run with 25 seconds left and adding an ensuing two-point conversion pass to Jackson Cowen to break a tie in a 42-34 win over Elba.
The victory was Kinston’s first after eight losses in the series to Elba.
