MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - This weekend, the annual fundraiser supporting the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center will take place with a bike, run/walk and community events to honor cancer patients.

Some patients will be speaking before the events, sharing their stories as they fight cancer.

WMTV sat down with Shane Kieler on Monday to hear his story and how he’s feeling before he runs the 5K on Sunday.

“Everybody says to focus on the big picture and not to worry about the small stuff. But the thing is that those small moments, they build the big picture,” explained Kieler. “And I have wonderful people on my side and it’s because I’ve used those, I’ve used my time wisely, I think.
