A gas leak at a restaurant in north-west Sydney has resulted in one death and several injuries, including those of police officers. Emergency services were alerted to the incident at the intersection of Garfield Road and Railway Terrace in Riverstone around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, responders found multiple individuals affected by the gas leak. One member of the public and five police officers were transported to Blacktown Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition. Another individual received medical assessment at the scene.

New South Wales Police confirmed the fatality, while NSW Ambulance indicated that carbon monoxide is suspected to be the gas involved in the incident. Hazmat firefighters are currently on-site, working to determine the source of the leak.

In addition to the firefighters, specialist doctors, intensive care paramedics, and a helicopter were dispatched to assist in treating the affected individuals. The situation remains under investigation as authorities work to ensure the safety of the area.
