Bluewater Health is targeting mid-November to open 30 new transitional recovery beds in the former SCITS school building in Sarnia, to help people battling addictions.
“It’s just a fantastic resource that we’re really fortunate to tap into right away,” hospital group president and CEO Paula Reaume-Zimmer said about the former high school building Monday, after city council unanimously approved rezoning to let the project there move forward.
Coun. Chrissy McRoberts called it the missing link, to help people who want to beat substance dependency get the help they need and transition into supportive housing, and independent living.
“Thank you for getting this and getting it off the ground,” McRoberts said.
Dormitory-style housing is ready for program users, who can stay up to 18 months
