Over three months later, 105 forestry workers are still on the picket lines this week after walking off the job June 6, and it doesn’t look like they expect to be going back to work anytime soon.
“I’ve never seen anything like this so we’re preparing for winter here, got our shacks showing up soon and everything,” said Devin Heesterman, a heavy duty mechanic, referring to shacks they’ll need for comfort if they’re still on the picket lines when winter sets in.
They work for La-kwa sa muqw Forestry which is majority owned by Western Forest Products.
