SAN JUAN COUNTY, N.M. —

A felony suspect has been taken into custody after a shooting broke out amid a party in northwest New Mexico.

Deputies with the San Juan County Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting between Bloomfield and Blanco. It happened in the early hours of Sunday, Sept. 14.

It was found three people were trying to leave a party when a man shot at the vehicle, hitting a female passenger inside. The shooting victim was transported to a hospital and is in stable condition, according to law enforcement.

The investigation identified Zachery Quintana as the suspect in the shooting. He was taken into custody at his residence by detectives.
