A new report from a former Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) planning manager warns the utility could face an electricity shortage — and possibly rolling blackouts — during the coming winter.
Roger Babb, a former system planner for TVA and now founder of software development company Operation Simulation Associates, Inc., released a study outlining what he says are potential weaknesses in the agency’s power grid.
The warning alleges that this coming Winter, TVA could be in for another series of rolling blackouts similar to the occurrence of blackouts during the Winter Storm Elliott of 2022.
“It was basically too cold for too long, and it wasn’t really a power outage issue — it was a plant design issue,” TVA spokesperson Scott Fiedler said.
Since that incident, TVA has invested million
