When Art Elmers of Fort Lee wrote to his congressman complaining about flight delays at Newark Liberty Airport , he got more than a standard reply.

On Monday, Elmers was sharing his experience from the podium at Newark Liberty International Airport with U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer , D-5th Dist.

Gottheimer, a North Jersey congressman, announced legislation requiring airlines ensure flyers are on their way as quickly as possible or provide cash reimbursement when their flight is delayed or canceled for reasons within the airlines’ control.
