It's only year two but Marist University football is erasing some difficult history.
The Red Foxes traveled to Staten Island and knocked off Wagner 21-10 on Saturday, moving out to a 2-1 start to the season. Wagner fell to 0-3.
Marist posted five interceptions and erased a 10-7 deficit late in the second quarter. Tristan Shannon's 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown put Marist up for good - it was the Red Foxes' first kick return for score since 2022. Carter James caught a 1-yard pass from backup quarterback Will O'Dell with under five minutes remaining (O'Dell was 2-for-5 for 40 yards, in addition to 10 carries for 58 yards).
Marist rolled up 272 total yards of offense to Wagner's 298. Red Fox quarterback Sonny Mannino was a bit ineffective, completing only 10 of 29 throws for 101
