FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) — Hundreds of students met at the campus fountain on Monday evening to pay tribute and honor conservative activist, Charlie Kirk.
After a post made by an anonymous person on Facebook, for students and families to meet at the fountain for a vigil, the word spread quickly.
At 5:00 p.m., sharp, students and families filed in, some with signs, and some with t-shirts to honor and show support for Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed on September 10th.
The vigil started with a group prayer, and then several people stood in the middle of the circle, citing bible verses and expressing their love and sadness regarding the event.
"It was an amazing turnout; it shows how many people here admired Charlie," one student said.
