A company hoping to restart a mothballed power station in the Hunter Valley says it "wants to solve all the issues" raised in the Independent Planning Commission (IPC) of NSW's refusal of the project.

Verdant Earth Technologies wants to transform the former coal-fired Redbank Power Station into the nation's largest modern biomass generator, using a mix of invasive native species (INS) and purpose-grown plants as fuel.

After wading through nearly 600 submissions — nearly 95 per cent of which were against the proposal — and hosting a public hearing in nearby Singleton, the IPC rejected the proposal on Monday over environmental concerns, including incentivising land clearing.
