Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy has declined to provide the cost of Australia’s contribution to a new ministerial wing for Papua New Guinea’s National Parliament.
The Albanese government promised a new ministerial wing for PNG’s Parliament and MPs as a gift for the island nation’s 50th independence anniversary.
The promise comes as the Albanese government pursues a defence treaty with PNG to consult and “act to meet the common danger” in the event of a security threat.
Mr Conroy was unable to confirm the exact cost of the diplomatic offering when asked by Sky News on Tuesday.
“We’ll be working through the costs as we do the detailed design,” Mr Conroy said.
