ROCKFORD, Ill. (WREX) — One Rockford real estate agent is continuing to push for new housing despite pushback from city council.

Longtime realtor and lifelong Rockford resident, Luke Salamone, is partnering with landowners and NBA player and Rockford native, Fred Van Fleet, to bring new housing to Fincham Drive, White Chapel Lane, Mill Road, and Highgrove Place.

However, this was voted down at the last city council meeting.

"The city of Rockford approved this development and this land change to residential as the highest and best use for the land. However, the aldermen did not take that into consideration in their vote. There was never any conversations about the zoning change, which is what was supposed to be voted on," Salamone said.
