A 37-year-old hiker fell to his death while hiking in the Enchantments near Dragontail Peak this month, the Chelan County Sheriff’s office announced Monday.
Andrew Wong, of Long Island, N.Y., was scheduled to return from a hike Sept. 7 but didn’t, according to a news release. Deputies found his car near the trailhead and called Chelan County Mountain Rescue to launch search efforts.
Following an “extensive search” with the help of a Snohomish County helicopter crew, search teams found Wong’s body. His injuries were consistent with a fall, according to the news release.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the individual during this difficult time,” read a statement from the sheriff’s office.
