SPOKANE, Wash. – A significant piece of Washington state's history made its way to Spokane in celebration of National Constitution Week.
The original 1889 Washington State Constitution was displayed at the downtown library.
This document holds historical importance as it was approved on November 11, 1889, by then-President Benjamin Harrison. On that day, Washington became the 42nd state admitted to the United States.
Marking its first trip in 136 years, this is the first time the state's founding document has traveled outside of Olympia and east of the Cascades.
